I fail to see how this is going to turn into a shrug. It looks like something I'd take on a fishing expedition. But I'm only 15 rows in.
pattern from the DIY Network page from "Uncommon Threads": Shrug/Shracket/Shroat and Shrap....
Of course, I'm using the wrong size hook (who has a P hook lying around!?)...and some nicer yarn than called for. The pattern asks for Red Heart Super Saver (!!!) and I'm using some Misti Cotton Pima Cotton/Silk. But it still looks like a fishing net.
That is off tha hook! No, actually, it still is on the hook...

Maybe it's a shrug for a mermaid?
And I have a P hook just lying around! :)
Thanks for your wonderful comments and I really appreciate you linking to the podcast from your blog. Thanks so much.
I've made a shrug like that, all open weave like fishing net, but with nubbly fussy mohair. It was cute:) And this is a very easy pattern:)
PS: I usually ONLY have P hooks within reach, and recently bough a hand carved P hook (Q hook and S hook, too!).
As a matter of fact, I'll be redoing my "Ripple Along" afghan in a hand carved "M" hook. I love bigger hooks!
I have a P hook too, although I can't say I've ever used it! :)
Love the yarn you're using. It looks as though it has a beautiful sheen.
I think it would look a little better if it wasn't so open. Maybe use a smaller hook? I don't really know.
